I can't wait to find out more about the X200 Tablet

via Engadget by Nilay Patel on 8/7/08

The last we heard of the ThinkPad X200 Tablet, it was hiding out in Hong Kong, but the little 'vert is starting pop up in the States here and there as well -- check out this compatibility listing for the X200 UltraBase docking station. Yep, there it is in black and white: X200 Tablet. Sadly that's all there is, but y'all can't deny it -- the X200 Tablet is about to start ridin'.

The Downside of Relying on Google for Everything [Google]

via Gizmodo by Adam Frucci on 8/6/08

google_evil.jpgOh, Google is just so great! They have the best free email, calendar, chat, photo and document sharing services, so why not use them all? Well, here's why: they can lock you out of your entire account without any explanation or any way to get it back, pretty much erasing your online existence. It happened to Nick Saber.

Nick came back from his lunch break on Monday, tried to log into his Gmail account, and got the following message: "Sorry, your account has been disabled."

When he emailed Google to find out what in the hell was going on, he got this less-than-promising reply:

Thank you for your report. We’ve completed our investigation. Because our investigation was inconclusive, we are unable to return your account at this time. At Google we take the privacy and security of our users very seriously. For this reason, we’re unable to reveal any further information about this account.

Second impression of the Mauritania coup

My first impression when I read the article: "Oh another military coup? Gotta be a military guy craving for power."

My second impression after actually reading the article: "Oh, it's the evil president this time."

Never jump to conclusions.
